PHOENIX, AZ, FileMaker Developer Conference., August 30, 2004 — FileMaker has announced the FileMaker Server 7 Advanced Development License, a special licensing program now available for owners of FileMaker Developer 7. The new program allows advanced users and database developers to build and test FileMaker 7 solutions that will be deployed on FileMaker Server 7 Advanced, which begins shipping today (see separate news release), without having to purchase a full license of the software, priced at $2499 (U.S., suggested list price).

“The new, easy-to-deploy FileMaker Server 7 software products are such a fast way to extend FileMaker with robust data sharing and integration that more and more of our customers are investigating and implementing our server technology,” says Ryan Rosenberg, vice president, Marketing and Services, FileMaker. “The special license in FileMaker Developer 7 means that our Developer customers now have a simple, low-cost way to experiment with FileMaker Server technology, and to develop and test all sorts of server solutions that share data over the desktop and web, or through data access methods such as ODBC, JDBC, and XML,” he adds.

FileMaker Server 7 Advanced is an enhanced version of FileMaker Server that includes robust web publishing and connectivity options. The new Development license and bundled software includes the capabilities of FileMaker Server 7 Advanced, including electronic documentation, and allows up to three simultaneous FileMaker 7 desktop-based networked clients (full retail version allows up to 250 users) and three simultaneous web-based clients to access hosted FileMaker solutions (full retail version allows up to 100 web clients). The license may only be used for development and testing purposes; it may not be used in a production environment.

Using the new license, customers can accomplish the following:

• Create solutions that will be deployed with FileMaker Server 7 Advanced more efficiently
• Configure advanced security options and automated backups prior to deployment
• Leverage advanced connectivity options, including ODBC*, JDBC*, and XML during the development and testing process
• Preview custom web solutions that will be integrated with a web site.
