Imagine adding a bar or line chart to your database for tracking product sales. Or add a pie chart with each section of the pie representing a different geographical region. There are countless practical uses for charting your data. Download the Web Viewer Charting Sample Database and see how you can combine data from your FileMaker database with Flash®-based HTML charting to create charts that can be viewed using the FileMaker Web Viewer. There are several types of charting examples in the database, ranging from introductory to advanced.
Introductory
The first example in the Web Viewer Charting Sample Database is the simplest and easiest to create. This example displays data from four of the sample database fields as a 3D pie chart in the Web Viewer. This type of chart allows you to define the values and labels for these four fields from the Data tab. The number of fields is fixed at four, the colors of the pie slices are pre-selected, and there are no other user-definable selections.
Intermediate
The Web Viewer Charting Sample Database also includes intermediate charting examples that display data from up to 12 fields of the sample database as either a 3D pie chart or a 3D bar chart in the Web Viewer. You select the fields, chart title, and the vertical and horizontal labels of the bar chart, from choices on the layout.
Advanced
If you are an experienced user, you can explore the advanced charting examples in the Web Viewer Charting Sample Database. Data from the sample database can be displayed as either a bar, pie, line, scatter or Gantt chart. Add, edit, or delete data from fields in the database, then click the Generate Chart button to display a Flash-based HTML chart in the Web Viewer. Additional color choices can be added using the Setup link accessible from the Home page in the sample database.
The Web Viewer Charting Example.fp7 file relies on the WV.html and WV.swf files downloaded with the sample database for displaying Flash-based HTML charts. Therefore, you must install these additional two files in the same folder as the sample database. The Adobe Flash Player, available for download from the Adobe website , is also required to view Flash-based HTML charts.
